Le Cirque's Sirio Maccioni, Anthony Quinn

Supporters of the David Yellin College of Education hailed the lifetime achievement of legendary Anthony Quinn at the Palace Hotel. Gossip extraordinaire Cindy Adams and Bill Cosby hosted the roast & toast of the 85-year-old actor, painter, sculptor, and father of thirteen! Roasters included David Dinkins, comedian Freddie Roman, lawyer Barry Slotnick, and Quinn's latest young wife Kathy's dad, who quipped, "My son-in law has children older than me."

I asked the charismatic Quinn if he considers himself an inspiration to his children. "I think I'm an inspiration to some of them who understand me—you have to understand a man who dedicated his life to portraying Greeks, Arabs, and Italians!" Then added: "There are only two more parts I want to play—Picasso at 80 and Leo Tolstoy. They left a message to us on Earth and I don't think it's been made clear what they wanted to say."

To life, Zorba!
