The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, founded by Evelyn Lauder, held its annual Symposium and Awards Luncheon at the Waldorf to support scientists and researchers at leading medical institutions worldwide who are conducting the most advanced breast cancer research. Joan Brugge, Michael Clarke, Charlotte Kuperwasser, Hope Rugo, Robert Weinberg, and Larry Norton were featured panelists in a discussion titled, “Not All Cancer Cells Are Alike: Identifying the Cells That Grow Into Cancers, and What We Can Do About Them.”
After the substantive panel, Tony Award-winner Bernadette Peters presented the Humanitarian Award to Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Notable names and fabulous faces included Evelyn and Leonard Lauder, Anna DeLuca, Myra Biblowit, Arlene Taub, Gigi Mortimer, Roberta Amon, Gail Hilson, Eleanora Kennedy, Wendy and Marshall Rose, Muffie Potter Aston, Serena Boardman, Joanne de Guardiola, Lisa Lambert, and Dina Merrill.
A gallant gathering in support of a fight we’ll one day win.
