There was a great turnout for “The Garland Appeal Gala” at Christie’s, where a benefit, held to support the fight against breast cancer through early detection, commemorated the life of the late Linda McCartney. All My Children’s Aiden Turner gallantly emceed the black tie affair, where attendees bid, in a live and silent auction, for the chance to own hot celebrity memorabilia items such as a pair of boxing gloves worn by legendary knock-out king Muhammad Ali. A guitar and drum set, previously owned by Sting, was signed personally by Ringo Starr. Jazz goddess Diane Schuur surprised us with a cool performance of golden-throated melodies. Those who came out to support The Garland Appeal’s message of hope included Sharon Bush, Candace Bushnell and Miss USA Susie Castillo, dancers Irina Dvorovenko and Maxim Belotserkovsky, Charles Askegard, Jackie DeShannon, Seabiscuit star Elizabeth Banks, Marty Richards, Eva La Rue, Allison Weiss, Jean Paul Lavoiser, Sabina Forbes II, Catherine Forbes, and Moira Forbes Mumma.
