The Kidney and Urology Foundation of America held “The Empire State Awards” banquet at the St. Regis to honor the outstanding efforts of two noteworthy humanitarians. Dennis Herman, who developed the award-winning “Beekman Regent” (considered one of the finest condominium buildings in the Big Apple in the last decade), was awarded “Man of The Year” for his outstanding philanthropic endeavors. Arnold Melman, M.D., professor and chairman at the Department of Urology at Albert Einstein College’s Montefiore Medical Center, was also honored with the “John Kingsley Lattimer Award in Urology” for his lifetime dedication to patients, and achievements in Urology. Sr. V.P. of M&T Bank and Foundation Chairman Sam Giarruso served as the master of ceremonies before the room of prominent guests from the medical world. All who attended this sophisticated black tie affair enjoyed lively dancing and fine dining.
