You know it’s not going to be a day at the beach when you see the play, A Day in the Life of Joe Egg, about a severely disabled girl. This difficult—but “unmistakably great play,” according to at least one West End critic—was based on the author’s experiences raising his own disabled child. Things weren’t so strained for The Sheet, however, with an Opening Night party starring such illuminati as Kevin Kline, Patricia Heaton, Judd Hirsch, Caroline Rhea, Katie Finneran, Roger Rees, Bill Irwin, Olympia Dukakis, Lesley Boone, and Kimberly Brown. The play also stars Victoria Hamilton, Dana Ivey, Margaret Colin, and Michael Gaston. If it stays as big a hit as it was in London, we advise you to fly quickly to the American Airlines Theatre—or risk getting egg on your face!
