This year’s Oscar’s Glitz & Glamour Night may have seemed more subdued than usual; but nothing could keep our starry-eyed New Yorkers from attending The Academy of Arts and Sciences’ official New York Oscar Night at Le Cirque.
Joan Collins and hubby Percy Gibson, Jane Powell, Eileen Fulton, Richard Barkley, along with Mayor Mike and his gal pal Diana Taylor, packed the fave Hot spot of the Rich and Famous. The place was dressed to impress. For example, giant television screens adorned every wall to better view this year’s Academy Eye Candy.
“We must bring the Oscars to New York,” exclaimed Mayor Bloomberg, always his City’s consummate promoter. Although some guests had mixed feelings about glamming it up while the restless world outside was grappling with confusing and tragic events, Bloomie offered up the simplest, but most sage counsel: “We have to carry on about our lives.” As Le Cirque’s guardian angel, Sirio Maccioni, could tell you, nothing about modern times is simple. Yet, these merry-makers did their best to maintain glamour in these “interesting times.”
