Helen Hunt and Matthew Carnahan

Sometimes, a play reminds us that to have a nice, adult dinner party, you have to send your six-year old to the sitter. Helen Hunt, starring in Life x 3 with the talented John Turturro, Linda Emond, and Brent Spiner, proves the point as French playwright Yasmina Reza gives us three possibilities of what might happen on a given night (much like Sliding Doors, the Gwyneth Paltrow flick).

What happens is that a bickering pair of foul-mooded couples barely make it through the night without killing each other, leaving us to conclude that maybe it’s best to scrap the whole marriage-family-friends-kids idea altogether!

At the after-the-play-party at Laura Belle, The Sheet caught up with leading lady Helen Hunt and her new beau, TV writer Matthew Carnahan (The Fugitive). When we asked how he spells his name, Helen the Huntress jumped in, answering for him, and reminding us a wee bit of a Britney Spears lyric—you know the one, “But my life has been so overprotected?”
