Arts on a High Wire” was an evening of artists and performers at the Hammerstein Ballroom to benefit the New York Arts Recovery Fund, featured show-opener Pete Hamill, Chuck Close, Jim Carroll, Suzanne Vega, Jules Feiffer, Fran Lebowitz, Frank Rich, and poet Sharon Olds, among other celebs in the arts. The night’s high-wire highlight: a performance by Philippe Petit, who did his own tightrope act between the Twin Towers in 1974.
