From Morris and Jaci Wilson Reid’s “house on the hill,” guests watched a memorable East Hampton sunset as VH1’s Save the Music Foundation benefit began. Music giant Darius Rucker (lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish) hosted the elegant evening as guests chatted from “musical chairs” that surrounded the impressive pool, which was filled with floating musical instrument toys.
Guests included rap impresario Russell Simmons, ad-man Donny Deutsch, John Sykes, Christina Norman, Charles Smith, Nikki Ziering, Marilece Andrada, and Fred Schneider of the legendary B52s, who told this writer, “The group has more staying power than many of today’s new fad singers that are in, then wind up out, of the business.” Fred also spoke about the B52s’ upcoming tour, which will keep him on the road for a few months. “Touring isn’t easy,” he said, “but I’m happy when I’m onstage. And when the tour’s finished, I can’t wait to kick back in the Hamptons!” (where he lives year-round).
