The gardens of the Longhouse Reserve glittered with guests dressed in white, silver, and gold at this year’s Summer Gala, commemorating Longhouse’s 15th anniversary as well as founder Jack Lenor Larsen’s 80th birthday. The fete honored Yoko Ono for her creativity and crusade for peace.
Guests were invited to write their innermost wishes on paper and then attach them to a rare Wish Tree donated by Ono, whose sculptures were on display.
Guests Bill T. Jones, Cindy Sherman, Edward Albee, David Byrne, Mercedes Ruehl, Annaliese and Paul Schenly Soros, Robert Wilson, and Dorothy Lichtenstein enjoyed cocktails while viewing the many works of art by Roy Lichtenstein,
Dale Chihuly, Bert Stern, and Willem de Kooning. The night continued with dinner, dancing, and a live auction, which featured several original pieces of art. The gala raised $350,000, which will support the Reserve’s dedication to the arts. Guests took home a special edition “Love Seed” from Yoko.
