Minna, Sir Ivan “Mr. Mitzvah” Wilzig

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s … Mr. Mitzvah, better known as Sir Ivan Wilzig. The new reality-TV star of the Sci Fi Channel’s Who Wants to Be a Superhero held a sneak-preview party at his Watermill spread, a.k.a. The Castle, where invited guests were encouraged to come in superhero costumes. Mr. Mitzvah, the first Jewish superhero, was created by Wilzig to educate children about the Holocaust. It’s the latest role in his whirlwind incarnations, from lawyer to banker (his late father was chairman of the Trust Company of New Jersey) to recording artist to, now, superhero.

Mr. Mitzvah pays homage to Siggi Wilzig, Sir Ivan’s father and a Holocaust survivor who came to America poverty-stricken. With hard work and dedication, he built a fortune in the banking and oil industries.

Wilzig was joined by guests Sylvia Miles, David Granoff, Cindy Guyer, John Mahdessian, Ernie Lake, Bob Roberts, Anna Konopka, Malinda Carlton, and Nole Marin. Wilzig’s mother, Naomi Wilzig, owner of the World Erotic Art Museum in South Beach, showed up for the fun.

The superhero showed an abridged version of the first episode of his new TV show on a two-story-high outdoor screen. Just when we thought the party couldn’t get any better, a fire dancer appeared and performed his act to the tune of "Hava Nagila."
