In just its second year, “Palm Beach! America’s International Fine Art & Antique Fair,” has proven itself worthy of the title of the country’s premier fine art and antique show. The 10-day run, which drew 34,000 collectors, connoisseurs, museum directors and curators to the Palm Beach County Convention Center, was kicked off by the Vernissage — a private showing—of the high-quality paintings, drawings, sculptures, furniture, textiles and rugs, jewelry, silver and ceramics, armor, and antique weaponry displayed by 102 international dealers. Art lovers admired exquisite works dating from classical antiquity through the 60s, including a Roman head of Mercury, a 17th-century Henrick Avercamp painting (which sold for a reported $12.5 mil), a Degas bronze dancer, and an 18th-century Indian chinz hanging. There were also extraordinary vignettes designed by Geoffrey Bradfield, John Barman, Juan Montoya, Scott Snyder, Richard Mishaan, and Rob Southern, using pieces from the exhibition. A pre-show cocktail reception honored Lady and Lord Rother-mere; he is chair of the British media empire Daily Mail and General Trust, (the company controlling the International Fine Arts Exhibitions, which staged the show).

Spotted eyeing and buying the goods: Honorary co-chair John Loring; co-chairs Audrey Gruss and Pauline Pitt, with Jamie Niven; Melania Trump; Coco and Arie Kopelman; Arnold Scaasi and Parker Ladd; Wilbur Ross and Hilary Geary; Judge Nancy Brinker; Peter Brandt and Stephanie Seymour; Andrea Stark; Emilia Fanjul; David and Julia Koch; and Frances Scaife. A true trove of treasures!
