Jazz lovers mingled at Jazz@Jennings, the annual soiree held at the Bridgehampton home of ABC’s Peter Jennings and his wife, Kayce Freed, benefiting the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreation Center. Guests sipped cocktails and enjoyed a scrumptious dinner of yellow tomato gazpacho, seared tuna with green tea soba noodles, hijiki vinaigrette, and strawberry rhubarb bread pudding. After dinner, guests were treated to a performance by jazz musicians Claudia Acuna (vocals), Gerald Cannon (bass), Carl Allen (drums), Cecil Bridgewater (trumpet), Antonio Hart (saxophone), Eric Reed (piano), Percy Heath (cello), and Dan Rose (guitar).
The smooth sounds delighted jazz enthusiasts like: Larry Gagosian, Robert Zimmerman, Tom Wolfe, Alan and Arlene Alda, Dorothy Lichtenstein, Lynn Sherr, Pete Peterson and Joan Ganz Cooney, Ross Bleckner, and Peggy Noonan. Also enjoying the cool evening breeze and tones was Harper, the Jennings’ three-year-old Airedale terrier!
Wanted: another jazz-loving host to take over this always-anticipated fund-raiser next year! Thanks to Peter and Kayce for nearly a decade of hospitality.
