American designer Maggie Norris held her Premier Fall 2003 Couture Collection at the Consulate General of the Russian Federation. Why Russia, you ask, Comrade? Because the opulence and romance of Czar Nicholas and Czaritsa Alexandra directly inspired the fabulous pieces! (As upper-crust Russians used to say, “Oo-la-la”!) Such luminaries flocked to this Russian-themed evening as Henry and Nancy Kissinger, Chloe Sevigny, Steve Forbes, Brad Martin, Michele Herbert, Renée Rockefeller, Somers White Farkas, Ambassador Sergey Lavrov and wife Marla, Muffie Potter Aston, Debbie Bancroft, Jill Roosevelt, Ann Dexter-Jones, and even more! The evening’s host was Christopher “Kip” Forbes; and co-hosts Jennifer Creel and Karen Groos showcased the fab Hermitage Furs by Helen Yarmak, jewels by Harry Winston, “Russian Nights” fragrance by Natalia Darialova, and writing instruments by Vincenti. The Sheet considers it safe to say that the old Russian saying “Not everything shiny is goldskii” just didn’t apply to this fabulous evening of Northern treasures!
