Cornelia Guest, Philip Treacy, Nan Kempner

Lofty Ladies of High Society donned their heart-stopping hats at a cocktail reception for Philip Treacy (otherwise known as London’s Milliner Extraordinaire).

As a self-proclaimed hat-aholic, our editor admits to enjoying Treacy’s styles immensely, reveling in the reception’s hatmosphere, which had plenty of hattitude to go around. After all, she should know: to wear a hat one must have plenty of that!

Other hattitudinal gals included host Cornelia Guest, Iman, Amy Fine Collins, Emilia Fanjul, William Ivey Long, Mark Badgley, James Mischka, Lucy Sykes, Nan Kempner, and Helen Schifter. The ladies filled Bergdorf’s to catch a glimpse of Treacy’s 2003 Spring Collection. Make no mistake: these hats aren’t the ladylike bonnets that your great-grandma used to wear! Think fantasy. Think bright colors—like butterflies, with cone shapes in every bold shade imaginable.

So, hats off to Philip Treacy for showing us New York gals how to stand Heads and Shoulders above the rest!
