Tommy Tune hosted a night full of celebrity presenters at “Sounds of Scent” for the 30th annual Fifi Awards at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center. Award presenters like Elaine Stritch, Candace Bushnell, Lil’ Kim, Mario Cantone, and Deborah Gibson introduced nominees such as Fragrance Star, Most Original Fragrance, Best Packaging, even Most Original Fragrance Feature by a Magazine! Chanel nabbed an award for “Coco Mademoiselle,” and other winners included Victoria’s Secret’s “Pink” and Michael Kors’ “Michael for Men.” Even Bill Clinton won a prize —the Essence of Charisma Award! Wonder what that would smell like … if scandal had a scent!

Celebs including Joan Rivers, Marisa Berenson, Miss USA Shauntay Hinton, Miss Teen USA Marissa Whitley, and Victoria Gotti—who appeared in a lacy black Vera Wang number—enjoyed a cornucopia buffet dinner inside a softly lit tent. And Joan Rivers told The Sheet she’s taken up painting post-9/11: “I have someone come three times a week to give me lessons. I like to paint with oils, pastels, or watercolors. On 9/12 I started to paint, and I painted for days—it made me forget. I painted flowers in the midst of all that horror.” Elaine Stritch enjoyed the evening but not the cold air-conditioning inside the tent—as she walked up to the buffet, pulled out a plastic bag from her purse and asked servers to throw some carved meat in it to take home. And all this time we thought you came for the perfume, Elaine!
