Prez and CEO of Arista Records, Antonio “LA” Reid, sponsored “Let It Glow.” The concert and dinner at the Hammerstein Ballroom benefited the City of New York Public Schools as well as “PENCIL.” (The cutsie acronym stands for “Public Education Needs Civic Involvement In Learning.”) Sex and the City‘s Cynthia Nixon presided as emcee, introducing fabulous performances by R&B artist Anthony Hamilton and three-time Grammy winner Sarah McLachlan — who, after six years, finally released her latest album, “Afterglow.”

Among the notables demonstrating their support of NYC’s Public Schools were Ann Moore, Joel Klein, Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, and author Fran Lebowitz.
