Michael Keaton

HBO Films premiered Live from Baghdad, the true tale of two CNN field producers, played by Michael Keaton and Helena Bonham Carter, on the frontline of the Gulf War. CNN made history when all other networks ran for cover and it stayed put to broadcast continuous live coverage from Iraq. The flick, directed by Mick Jackson, is based on field producer Robert Wiener’s 1992 book Live from Baghdad: Gathering News from Ground Zero, and captures the harrowing intensity of wartime journalism. At the Four Seasons Hotel after-party, The Sheet grabbed a moment with Keaton and asked if playing the part of a newsman helped him better understand the journalist’s psyche. Says Keaton: “Now I totally ‘get’ the addiction of a journalist to get the story.”
