Cascading orchid centerpieces set the flower-power scene at the Rainbow Room for the Botanical Garden's Orchid Dinner, which raised $600,000 for the Garden's orchid collection and scientific research.
The room was petal-perfect, meticulously overseen by Penny Arnold and Charlotte Frieze. Thirty designers and boldface names-including Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, Tony Ingrao, Isaac Mizrahi, Randy Kemper, and Valentino-created a theatrical setting of extravagant table designs, each with its own theme. From Fergie's Magical Folly Royalty Party motif (with help from Harry Slatkin of Slatkin & Co.) to Kemper and Ingrao's equestrian creation, these orchid-centric designs made for a breathtaking evening.
The event, sponsored by House & Garden, Tiffany and Co., and Bank of America, blossomed thanks to guests Cindy Adams, Dylan Lauren, Gregory Long, Andrea Stark, Dominique Browning, Jennifer Creel, John Barman, Stephanie Krieger and Brian Stewart, Sylvia Weinstock, Jill and Andrew Roosevelt, and Joe and Donna Lagani.
