A preview can be priceless, as evidenced by the tony mix of collectors who made generous contributions and got a first peek at the Winter Antique Show opening-night gala. The artful event, held at the Seventh Regiment Armory and sponsored by Elle Décor, benefited the East Side House Settlement.

The gala brought in over 25,000 attendees-a fabulous turn-out to launch the nine-day show Southern Perspective: A Sampling from the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA is located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina). The exhibit is a showcase of American, European, and Asian fine and decorative arts, featuring furniture, quilts, jewelry, ceramics, and sculpture.

Decorative-devotees included Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Leonard and Evelyn Lauder, Ivana Trump, Martha Stewart, Mario Buatta, Pamela Fiori, Amy Fine Collins, Margaret Russell, Shari Redstone, Audrey Gruss, Arie and Coco Kopelman, Barbara de Portago, Gillian Miniter, Debbie Bancroft, Carlos Mota, Jamee and Peter Gregory, Muffie Potter Aston, and Jonathan and Somers Farkas.

It was a picture-perfect evening that raised over $1 million.
