Andrea Stark, Dr. Ruth Westheimer, Jan Willinger

Co-chairs Andrea Stark, Jan Willinger, and Ellen Levy rewrote the old platitude “never discuss politics, religion or sex at dinner,” as they planned their event at the Breakers Hotel. They’re the ones responsible for inviting Dr. Ruth “safe sex” Westheimer to speak at the Planned Parenthood Gala. Dinner, dancing, and a Q&A with Dr. Sex herself lured a sold-out crowd of curious patrons. Her sexual innuendos didn’t seem to go over too well, however, with this most proper crowd. Well, Dr. Ruth, stick to the New York state of mind, is my advice. The lively evening was championed by the generosity of benefactors Christine and Alan Curtis, Seymour Ziff, Ruth and Carl Shapiro, Wachovia Wealth Management, Debra Hazelwood Long, and Offitbank. Dr. Ruth capped the evening with, “For me to speak at a Planned Parenthood dinner is a tremendous pleasure.” We love that about you, Dr. Ruth, but please, not while we’re eating.
