A host of celebrities, headed up by Senator Hillary Clinton and former First Lady of New York Matilda Cuomo, gathered at the Harvard Club to recognize National Mentoring Month. The evening celebrated the second publication of Matilda’s and Hillary’s new collaboration, Who Mentored You?: The Person Who Changed My Life, a collection of personal stories (as told by celebs and VIPs) about those who most impacted their lives. Among the bevy of personalities on hand to support the noble cause were Kenneth Cole, Andrew Cuomo, Geraldo Rivera, Ossie Davis, Charles Grodin, and Jessye Norman.
Hillary spoke of the unexpected impact a mentor had on her own life years ago, speaking candidly about Matilda Cuomo, whom she met while attending an event for governors and their wives. “It was one of these events where governors met and spouses’ programs were included ... You could talk about things and make friends with people who understood what the challenges of being a governor’s wife were, you know.” She paused briefly, adding: “but we won’t go into that now.” The guests roared with laughter along with the upbeat Senator.
