One can only imagine the planning prowess it requires to assemble Elizabeth Hurley, Gwyneth Paltrow, Katrina Bowden, Donna Karan, and Vera Wang in the same room. Top it off with a concert by Sir Elton John, and you know it can only be the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s
founder and chairwoman, Evelyn Lauder, who hosted the Hottest Pink Party Ever at the Waldorf.
The pink blur began on the pink carpet as one star after another strutted by, posing in various hues of the night’s theme. Paltrow looked gorgeous in a strapless vintage number. Emcee Hurley, accompanied by hubby Arun Nayar, radiated in a soft pink sari.
Lush pink accents delicately and playfully transformed the ballroom into a scene straight from a fairytale. Paper butterflies suspended from the ceiling balanced the spectrum of pink flowers and ladybugs that made each table come to life.
“Evelyn Lauder, you outdo yourself every year —and this year you have turned up the heat and topped it all, filling the hottest pink room ever with the hottest people ever,” said Hurley. “You, our guests, our friends, our generous donors, are here to support a great cause, and most of all, we are all here to pay tribute to the hottest gal of all—our friend
and inspiration, Evelyn Lauder.”
“We are hot on the trail, and proud of the enormous progress the Breast Cancer Research Foundation is making,” Lauder responded.
After noshing on veggie tarts, miso-glazed cod, and key lime parfait, longstanding supporter Elton John sent the stars to the dance floor and brought down the house with “Bennie and the Jets,” “Rocket Man,” and “Tiny Dancer,” which he dedicated to the late real estate mogul Linda Stein.
When all was said and sung, the gala raised $5 mil for the BCRF.
