The Help USA Tribute Awards Dinner at Cipriani 42nd St. was a fun-filled fete, hosted by Charles Grodin. Tony Bennett gave a live performance and guests milled about before the Leadership Award went to Avis Richards and the Philanthropy Award to Carroll Petrie.
Honoree Chris Gardner, whose past life on the streets as a homeless man inspired the acclaimed film The Pursuit of Happyness, donated a whopping $100,000 to the organization, and asset manager Bruce Richards, Carroll Petrie, and Steve Ross matched the hefty sum.
In the mix: Andrew and Phyllis Rabinowitz, Gov. Mario and Matilda Cuomo, Kenneth Cole and Maria Cuomo Cole, Jon Halpern, Abigail Trenk, Sarah Currie, and Marcia Gay Harden who introduced Attorney General Andrew Cuomo: “I get to meet the hot older brother of Maria ... Andrew,
you hot tamale ... I have a crush on him.” Hmmmm.
