United Cerebral Palsy of New York City’s 9th Annual Women
Who Care Luncheon packed the room with a boldface crowd at
Cipriani 42nd Street. The sold-out event celebrated the accomplishments of extraordinary women as caregivers, volunteers,
and professionals.

Founder and Chair Loreen Arbus said that the luncheon “is
a celebration of women who have blazed new paths, broken
glass ceilings, and inspired others to achieve.”

Cathleen Black, president of Hearst Magazines, was Honorary
Chair, Joan Jedell was Co-Chair, and Donna Hanover served as
Host.

Honorees celebrated were Ann Curry, Francine LeFrak, Linda
Kaplan Thaler, JoanAnn Natola, Dr. Pamela F. Gallin, and Anita
and Gary Geresi. Celebrity presenters included Meredith Vieira,
Alan Rickman, Cynthia Nixon, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Jimmy Smits,
Robin Givens, Tinsley Mortimer, and Paula Zahn.

Among the boldnames were Kathie Lee Gifford, Hoda Kotb,
Natalie Morales, Alexandra Reeve-Givens, Camilla Barungi, Sky
Sheridan, Jim McGreevey, Tommy Tune, Rod and Judy Gilbert,
Jimmy and Margo Nederlander, Veronica Kelly, Patricia Duff, Faye
Wattleton, Susan Fales-Hill, Lillian Vernon, Martha Nelson, David
Patrick Columbia, and Tiffany Townsend.

Curry summed up the spirit of the awards by recalling the
advice of her late father to “do something that’s of service to
someone else. So when you reach the last day of your life, it will
matter that you were born.”
