Brothers Russell, Danny, and Joseph “Rev Run” Simmons and celebs from the worlds of fashion, music, and entertainment celebrated the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation Art for Life benefit at Russell’s estate in East Hampton. The evening, hosted by Soledad O’Brien, honored the creative energy of NYC youth and the exemplary individuals —including Vanessa Williams and Sheila Johnson—who have contributed to the community through their career achievements and humanitarian work. The required black and white attire and the Old Hollywood décor gave an extra artsy twist to the glamorously artistic party.
Chairs John Bartlett, Allison and Chip Brady, Tim Gunn, Donna Karan, Stephen Hill, Susan Taylor, and David Tisch joined featured artist Shepard Fairey and guests including Gov. David Paterson, Gayle King, Star Jones, Jennifer Miller, Kyle MacLachlan, Simon de Pury, and Dr. Mehmet Oz in appreciation of the power of art. The festivities raised $1 mil for the cause, providing disadvantaged urban youth with significant exposure and access to the arts.
