Supporters gathered at the Wölffer Estate in Sagaponack to commemorate the dream of a truly super man-the late Christopher Reeve-at the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation's (CRPF's) Summer Solstice Celebration. The festive event (first time in the Hamptons) featured season-perfect cocktails, a scrumptious dinner buffet, and live music from the Brazilian band Belaza Sol.

Notable attendees included: Honorary Chair Dana Reeve, Will Reeve (Chris and Dana's 13-year-old son), CRPF's Director and Event Chair Marnie McBryde and President Kathy Lewis, Nathan Lane, Sybil and David Yurman, Faith Popcorn, Monique Silberman, Didi and Joseph Lyons, Jennifer Star, Susan Fox, Mara Faden, Deborah and John Marciano, Diane Benson, Ken Wyse, London Jewelers' Mark and Candy Udell, Sharon Melnick, and Monica Graham. Guests wore tags which sported the Superman logo and the motto: "Go Forward," highlighting the spirit of the Foundation, which continues the mission of its founder, Chris Reeve, who is greatly missed by all.

After staunchly supporting Chris during the final nine years of his life in his work to raise the national awareness of spinal-cord injuries and the research needed to find a cure, Dana now faces the fight of her own life. She recently announced, just ten months after his death, that she has been diagnosed with lung cancer, is being treated, and that she and her doctors are optimistic (the actual stage of her cancer and prognosis are unknown). "I hope before too long to be sharing news of my good health and recovery," the 44-year-old actress/singer said stoically in a statement, and asked the media for privacy, noting that she had announced her illness only because a tabloid was about to do it for her. "Now, more than ever, I feel Chris with me as I face this challenge," she added. "As always, I look to him as the ultimate example of defying the odds with strength, courage, and hope." We wish this brave woman, who has always shown such optimism and grace in the shadow of tragedy, Godspeed.
