Jack Lenor Larsen, Peter Olsen

It was an evening filled with magic and mystery as guests ventured into the open-air museum at the LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton for the annual summer benefit, "An African Odyssey." Authentic music and African dance provided by Jean-Paul Samputu and his band from Rwanda had guests wondering what continent they were on. The beating drums and exotically decorated gardens provided the atmosphere for an exquisite auction that raised over $140,000 for the Reserve, which was founded by author and collector Jack Lenor Larsen in 1991. In the artistic crowd: Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel, Edward Albee, Jan Cowles, Molly Chappellet, Lisa de Kooning, Bill Jones, and Robert Wilson. A night filled with intrigue that left everyone speculating how the Reserve would top this year's benefit, next year!
