Prince was the main attraction at the king of all summer happenings, the East Hampton Social @ Ross Concert Series. Under huge tents guests enjoyed a lavish buffet, including sushi by Nobu and pan-Asian cuisine by Geoffrey Zakarian. Robbins Wolfe Eventeurs supplied delectable Japanese, Thai, Chinese, French, and American dishes, while chefs cooked up lo mein noodles, meats, vegetables, and sauces specifically tailored to satisfy the cravings of each guest. We enjoyed jellybeans and cotton candy from Dylan’s Candy Bar, and admitted to our sweet tooth to dentist Gerry Curatola, who commented, “This is a dentist’s dream!”
Everything from the ambience to the wood-paneled porta-potties exuded elegance. Not just any
potty would do for this cashamptons crowd, who paid $15,000 per person for a series of five concerts including Prince, Dave Matthews Band, Billy Joel, James Taylor, and Tom Petty.
In the mix: Rocco Di Spirito, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, Courtney Ross, Anjelica Huston, David Lauren and Lauren Bush, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jay-Z, Jon Bon Jovi, David Blaine (up to his old tricks!), Anjelica Huston, Jane Michaels, Kelsey and Camille Grammer, Edie Falco, Aida Turturro, and Christie Brinkley, who was accompanied by bro Greg and son Jack.
Among Prince’s opening lines: “Put your cameras down. I get paid for photo shoots.” He then belted out a few hits and some lesserknown numbers, including “Take Me With U,” “Cream (Get on Top),” “U Got the Look,” “Controversy,” “Kiss,” “Purple Rain,” “Let’s Go Crazy,” and “I Feel 4 U.” It was rumored that Prince was paid $1 mil for his obscure Hamptons performance.
The rocker was not satisfied with the crowd, and commented, “I see some sleeping white folks in the front!” That prompted several hot guys and babes to join him onstage, gyrating in a style that was more Southampton’s Club Dune, which is where many headed later on.
Self-proclaimed non-drinker and Jehovah’s Witness Prince continued to surprise us. A close source told us that the rocker downed four Long Island iced teas at the afterparty at East Hampton’s La Flirt, and closed the place at 6 a.m. |
