A medley of luminaries in the entertainment industry came together for the Director's Guild of America Honors to pay tribute to the talented professionals who create the magic of the movies and the glow of TV. The annual event, held at the Waldorf, was emceed by Dave Chappelle.

Honorees included: Robert De Niro (for his contribution to American film and culture and for his intensity in revitalizing the NYC film community), Paramount Pics' Sherry Lansing, Saturday Night Live's creator/exec producer Lorne Michaels, film producer/director Jonathan (Silence of the Lambs) Demme, and French film director Bertrand (La Passion Beatrice) Tavernier. Award presenters included: Jude Law, Julie Delpy, Martin Scorsese, Oprah Winfrey, and Richard Belzer.

Other stars in the galaxy: Sean Penn, Charles Grodin, Jane Alexander, Jack Valenti, Julie Taymor, Harvey Keitel, Steve Martin, Ben Affleck, Christopher Walken, Al Franken, Danny Aiello, Le Var Burton, James Woods, Jerry Orbach, Roy Scheider, Darrell Hammond, Ed Norton, Robert Wuhl, Liam Neeson, Stuart Whitman, Gilbert Gottfried, Michael Apted, and the current cast of Saturday Night Live.
