Three committed women and twelve companies were honored for their philanthropic efforts and community building at the "Caring Companies" luncheon at Cipriani 42nd Street, sponsored by Reader's Digest and the Ad Council.
Uma Thurman was honored for her work with Room to Grow, a group dedicated to enriching the lives of babies born into poverty. Edie Falco (soon to star in the Broadway revival 'night, Mother) was recognized for her contributions to women's health causes. Judith Giuliani (whose hubby, former Mayor Rudy, proudly looked on) was honored for efforts as exec director of the fundraising campaign for the Rudolph Giuliani Trauma Center at St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center. To date, she has helped raise $22 mil of the $100 mil needed for completion of the Level One emergency room to bear her husband's name (which will specialize in terrorist-attack response).
Among the "Caring Companies" recognized for their nonprofit initiatives were: AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, and Johnson & Johnson (for health-related causes); Home Depot and JPMorgan Chase (for community-building); Anheuser-Busch, GE, and General Motors (for education); and Dannon, GE, McDonald's, and Yahoo (for improving the lives of children).
Thanks for sharing!
