Guests sang along to “New York, New York,” as they celebrated the legacy of Frank Sinatra. Music director Steven Reineke led the New York Pops in an astounding concert titled, The Best Is Yet To Come, featuring some of Sinatra’s greatest hits. Columnist Liz Smith hosted the event, as America’s largest independent pops orchestra celebrated its 27th birthday in Carnegie Hall. Special guest Frank Sinatra, Jr. joined the event honoring his father’s legacy, along with five-time Grammy award nominee Michael Feinstein, Tony Award-winner Michael Cerveris, Broadway and television actor Cheyenne Jackson, Tony nominee John Tartaglia, Ugly Betty star Michael Urie, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
Following the performance, the crowd headed to The Plaza for a black tie dinner dance where Board Chair James A. Read and his wife, Patty, were honored for their continued support of the New York Pops.
The gala would have made ol’ blue-eyes proud, raising $700,000. Now, that’s “Makin’ Whoopee!” |
