Concern Worldwide held its fifth annual dinner at the Roosevelt Hotel and paid tribute to Richard Holbrooke, with James Earl Jones as emcee. Holbrooke, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and nominated for six Nobel Peace Prizes, received the Concern award for his lifetime commitment to alleviate human suffering worldwide. Thomas Moran, Concern’s chairman of the board, said: “Although it’s difficult in the midst of the bigger issue of terrorism, we must remember that human issues are still pressing.” His take on the terrorist attacks: “We will prevail.”
