France was transported to the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center for New York City Ballet's 2012 Spring Gala performance, À La Française. The evening featured bubbly, ballet, and a supper ball attended by guests who included chairs Natalie Portman, Emily and Len Blavatnik, Charlotte Moss and Barry Friedberg, Julia Koch, Carol Mack, and Nadja Swarovski. Art enthusiasts Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman, Catherine Malandrino, Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, Leonard Lauder, and Fe Fendi were also on hand.
The program featured two world-premiere ballets by Peter Martins and Benjamin Millepied, in addition to a major revival of Balanchine's Symphony in C. The performers were draped in exquisite costumes from J. Mendel, Rodarte, and Marc Happel, as well as headpieces created by Robert Sorrell in collaboration with Swarovski—which, along with Christian Dior, sponsored the elegant evening.
