Chef Daniel Boulud threw the year’s foodie “Oscars” for James Beard Foundation Award nominees and celebrated chefs across America. Chefs from Boulud’s three eateries—Alex Lee (Daniel), Andrew Carmellini (Café Boulud), and Jean Francois Bruel (DB Bistro)—concocted the brunch for culinary stars like Alfred Portale (Gotham Bar & Grill), and Tom Colicchio (Gramercy Tavern). It was Boulud’s second annual feast, and guests spilled out onto the sidewalks to scarf up the fab fare on a perfect spring day. Boulud told The Sheet, “There’s nothing like chefs cooking for chefs. We really try to outdo ourselves in their honor!” With a menu of his signature dishes, from succulent suckling pig to sugar cane shrimp and DB’s juicy burgers, it was a chef’s day to be served.
