The flashbulbs lit up the night as the who's who of Hollywood mingled among NYC's elite for one of fashion's most coveted evenings: the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute Gala, which celebrated Paul Poiret, visionary artist-couturier of the early 20th century.
Poiret was the undisputed "King of Fashion" at the height of his career in pre-WWI France, liberating women from their corsets and introducing shocking colors and exotic silhouettes into haute couture. His innovative work will be on display at the Met through August 5.
The opening party was the fabulous collaboration of chairs Franois-Henri Pinault (who is about to become a proud papa, along with the sexy Salma Hayek-looking radiant in her motherly glow), Cate Blanchett, Nicolas Ghesquire, and Anna Wintour.
Other stars shining bright included Christina Ricci, Christy Turlington, Hilary Swank, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, Kate Bosworth, Ivanka Trump, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, Renee Zellweger, Donatella Versace, Iman and David Bowie, Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts, Scarlett Johansson, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson, Cameron Diaz, Donald and Melania Trump, Tinsley Mortimer, Winona Ryder, Amber Valletta, and Sophie Dahl
