Entertainment legends, society couples, and glam leaders of the cosmetic industry filled Gotham Hall for the annual New York Gala of The Caron Foundation, a leader in the treatment of addiction to alcohol and drugs. Co-chairs were Aerin and William Lauder, and honorary chairs included Leonard Lauder, Blaine Trump, and Sir Elton John, who introduced the award presentation via video.
This year’s honoree was John Demsey, CEO of M·A·C Cosmetics. Emcee Isaac Hayes introduced a musical interlude by Sheryl Lee Ralph, and guests enjoyed a silent auction, dinner, and entertainment. Chita Rivera spotlighted the legendary Liza Minnelli, the new face for M·A·C Cosmetics (just back from performing and recording a duet album with varied artists in France), who presented Demsey with his award, then brought down the house with a moving musical tribute. Also in the mix: Robert Trump, Walter Yetnikoff, Elizabeth Kabler, Allen and Fran Arrow, Lee Annenberg, Robert Ziff, and James Abernathy. The evening was a spirited revival of talent and hope!
