Evelyn Lauder, Prince Dmitri

Princess Michael of Kent showed off more than her beauty at the Georgian Suite on Fifth Avenue for the Albert Schweitzer Music Awards lunch. The princely affair featured noted pianist and organist Larry Douglas Embury, who in tribute to honoree Anna Moffo Sarnoff—”La Moffo”—played “If I Could Tell You of My Devotion.” The Princess was suddenly moved to sing along, only to be slowly joined by the entire audience! Royal sing-alongs included Princes Dmitri and Michael of Yugoslavia, Prince and Princess Alexander Romanoff, Judy Prince (the Princess of Theater—Hal’s wife!), as well as Mary McFadden, Clara Menaldino, Arlene Dahl, Gaetana Enders, Maurice Sonnenberg, Lee Thaw, Isabelle Leeds, Olga Rostropovich, Anne Slater, Daisy Soros, Cecile Zilkha, and German Consul General Bernhard von der Planitz. Presenting the music award to La Moffo, Princess Michael stated, “Anna epitomizes all that Albert Schweitzer stood for—a lifetime of artistic and humanitarian achievements.”
