The Rich & Glitzy pulled out their pearls for The Wildlife Conservation Society’s Penguins and Pearls Gala. Typically held every year at the Bronx Zoo, the event marked Central Park Zoo’s gala debut! The festive decor—which cost a mere $300,000—glittered with giant white paper lanterns and sparkling lights under sprawling tents amid a backdrop of exotic foliage. Not to be outdone by any furred or feathered creatures, Manhattan’s fiercest party animals turned out in mega-designer gowns and ferocious jewels, and the warm summer night made for hot dancing under the stars: Denise Rich kicked up a storm, as did Muffie Potter Aston, Cece Black, Patricia Hearst and Bernard Shaw, Kathy and Rick Hilton, Andrea and John Stark, and Elizabeth Kieselstein-Cord, among others. A whopping $1.9 mil was raised for the Wildlife Conservation Society, dedicated to saving wildlife, wild lands and, apparently, the wild A-list!
