Gotham chefs

A slew of shining chefs—including Daniel Boulud, Drew Nieporent, Gramercy Tavern’s Claudia Fleming, Park Avenue Café’s Richard Leach, Nobu’s Nobu Matsuhisa, Aureole’s Charlie Palmer, Payard’s Francois Payard, Le Cirque’s Luis Robledo-Richards, as well as chefs from around the country—whipped up their best as part of America’s Greatest Chefs at Rockefeller Center to benefit Citymeals-on-Wheels. The event, aptly titled “From Sea to Shining Sea,” brought out foodies in glitzy American gear. Denise Rich sported a short, sexy sequined number with white stars on blue, and red and white striped “tails” trailing from her bare back. When I asked Denise to turn around so I could capture that, she quipped, “I’m used to watching my back.”

The F(oodie)-List included Bob and Joan Tisch, Lyn Paulsin, Bill Bratton and Rikki Klieman, Pino Luongo, and Jerry Speyer, among many others, who feasted on delicacies like Chinese five-spice wild boar ribs with Southern sweet potatoes, buckwheat crêpes with California backyard Meyer lemon jam, Maryland-style crab cakes with ginger sauce, Tahitian vanilla mascarpone cheesecake with ripe mango preserves, and Douglas fir sorbet! Guests danced the night away to a live soul band, all benefiting the nonprofit organization that delivers nutritious meals to homebound New Yorkers. Talk about gorging for a good cause!
