Marc Rosen

Marc Rosen’s exhibit of his renowned perfume bottle designs kicked off the new Design Gallery of the Pratt Institute’s Manhattan campus. Rosen, a Pratt professor and trustee, accompanied by his wife, the elegant Arlene Dahl, teaches what may be the world’s only graduate course in perfume bottle design! Having created signature bottles for Fendi, Elizabeth Arden, Karl Lagerfeld, Perry Ellis, and Guess, among others, Rosen sees the world “as a mélange of possible bottle shapes” and New York’s architecture as a “significant part of my vision.” His show “Glass Houses: Perfume Dwellings” definitely embodies Rosen’s quest to capture “the idea of a scent through a bottle.” And guests like Cindy Adams, Barbara de Portago, Audrey Gruss, Rex Reed, Sally Jesse Raphael, C.J. Satterwhite, Carole McCarthy, and Marty Richards shared the sweet smell of his success.
