Stephanie Seymour, Laurence Graff, Peter Brandt

The crème de la crème celebrated the opening of Laurence Graff’s new two-story salon with elegant limestone porticoes, grandly stationed on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach. Among the glittering crowd were Stephanie Seymour and polo hubby Peter Brant, David and Julia Koch, Bill Koch and fiancée Bridgett Rooney, Frances Scaife, Roberta and Paul Kozloff, Preston Atinsky, Tom McCarter, and Nancy Clarke.

Surprise entertainment of the night: the thunderous arrival of a procession of safari Hummers, bearing an African tribe of drummers and dancers clad in ceremonial garb! The group attentively followed their shining beacon: Graff’s young Prince François (his six-year-old gem), entrusted to carry the breathtaking, never-before-seen, $15 mil, 101.28 carat Vivid Fancy Yellow diamond on a velvet pillow (with the attentive help of his father) through the enamored crowd—to the back of the salon. After the long, arduous process of transporting, studying, and measuring, the mammoth diamond was finally secure in its new home! In a moment of triumph, Graff, himself, christened the salon’s Ultra-Brilliant Mascot, “The Golden Star.”
