Deborah Norville, Honoree Larry Herbert

Color king, Larry Herbert was honored by the School of American Ballet as they presented him with the prestigious Corporate Leadership Award at Lincoln Center. The Pantone CEO accepted the award to the applause of his distinguished peers including Mayor Mike Bloomberg, Deborah Norville, Tony Randall, Libby and Gov. Pataki, Anne Bass, Allen Grubman, Somers and Jonathan Farkas, Abigail Hirschhorn, Darci Kistler and Peter Martins, Coco and Arie Kopelman, Denise Rich, Wendy Wasserstein, and Ira Rennert. Norville introduced Herbert with, “Larry understands that you can’t have the artistic without the practical; that the ballet can’t soar without a solid fiscal foundation beneath it. And though his head may be focused on balance sheets and box office receipts, his heart belongs to Peter [Martins] and his dancers.”

Then proudly, Larry said, “In these trying times, the ballet provides an escape into a world that excites, enchants, inspires and in some ways calms us. To paraphrase a lyric from A Chorus Line, everything really is beautiful at the ballet.”
