Patience and Fortitude, those two great stone lions facing east, stood guard over the New York Public Library’s sparkling 2008 Library Lions Benefit. Each year, the Library honors a group of outstanding individuals whose accomplishments enrich society, and whose work is inspired by and represented in the Library’s collections. This year, the honorees were Edward Albee, Ashley Bryan, Nora Ephron, and Salman Rushdie.
