Big hearts + big wallets = philanthropic love. A downtown icon was celebrated with uptown class as The Rainbow Room hosted the Bowery Mission’s 10th Annual Valentine Gala. The event honored the ongoing generosity of John and Margo Catsimatidis for their continued support. Chairs Veronica Kelly, Richard Horowitz, and Ernie Anastos led the evening’s festivities. Birthday boy Mayor Mike Bloomberg stopped by for the cocktail hour and photo op, joining more than 300 guests, including His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, Police Commish Ray Kelly, DA Robert Morgenthau, Dick Grasso, Dennis Mehiel, Eric McGovern, Les Goodstein, Erika and Henry Higdon, and Nancy and Jan Nagel. Guests helped raise over $580,000 while enjoying an evening of dinner, dancing, and musical performance by The Dexter Allgood Singers. The Diebold family of Roxbury, CT was also recognized for contributing $1 mil over 10 Valentine Galas, a special family among many who continue to share the love.
