“Experience the Mystery” was the slogan and Far East the decor at the Waldorf for the 27th annual Alzheimer's Association Rita Hayworth Gala, underwritten by Rolex. Naeem and Ranjana Khan received the Rita Hayworth Award, while Marlyne Sexton was handed the Philanthropy Award. Other guests included Jonathan and Somers Farkas, Chele Upton Chiavacci, Muffie Potter Aston, Anne Hearst McInerney, Patty Smith and John McEnroe, Alexandra Lebenthal, Allen Brill, and Michele Herbert. Founder and chair Princess Yasmin Aga Khan established the gala as a tribute to her beloved mother, Rita Hayworth, who died from Alzheimer's. A silent auction got things going, but the real attraction was a performance by the one and only Rosanne Cash, who really got revelers up on their feet. The oh-so-glam gala raised over $1.5 mil.
