The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation celebrated the 20th anniversary of its star-studded A Magical Evening Gala at the New York Marriott Marquis. Cristina Carlino, creator of Philosophy cosmetics and dedicated supporter of the Foundation, kicked off the evening with a champagne toast. Alexandra Reeve Givens presented IBM with the Visionary Leadership Award, which was accepted by Dr. John E. Kelly III. Reeve family friend Marsha Garces Williams was presented with the Dana Reeve HOPE Award, and Matthew Reeve presented the Gonzalez-Bunster family with the Christopher Reeve Spirit of Courage Award for their work in providing wheelchairs to underdeveloped nations through the Walkabout Foundation. The evening featured dinner, dancing, and a silent auction, followed by a live performance by singer-songwriter Shontelle, who belted her hit single “Impossible.”
The many guests included Francine LeFrak and Rick Friedberg, Bob and Lee Woodruff, Jack and Gail Hughes, Marie and John McConell, Joan Collins, Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks, Mary Alice Stephenson, David Blaine, Miss USA Rima Fakih, and designers Robert Tagliapietra and Zack Weinstein. some of the world's most groundbreaking spinal-cord research and pioneers quality-of-life programs for people living with paralysis. Generous supporters helped raise over $1 mil - a magical evening for sure!
