The Museum of the Moving Image gala, held at Cipriani 42nd Street in honor of Alec Baldwin, proved to be a great success. Attendees Michael Keaton, Mercedes Ruehl, Tim Curry, Ben Stiller, Alexandra Wentworth, Al Pacino (via video), Jimmy Fallon, Edie Falco, Lorne Michaels, and Tina Fey all spoke of Baldwin's great achievements in both his professional and personal life. Fey, noting that the role of Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock was written for him, said, “Alec is a writer's dream.” Other notable guests included Showtime CEO Matthew Blank, Ronald Doerfler, Ron Meyer, Michael Lynne, Jeff Zucker, Richard Gere and Carey Lowell, Amy Ryan, Christine Taylor, George Stephanopoulos, Brian Williams, Mariska Hargitay, Darren Star, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Dylan Lauren, and Barry Sonnenfeld. Baldwin, sporting an Ermenegildo Zegna tuxedo, joins past honorees including Clint Eastwood, Ben Stiller, Richard Gere, Dustin Hoffman, Steven Spielberg, Al Pacino, and Robert DeNiro.
The gala also doubled as a farewell dinner for museum director Rochelle Slovin, who is retiring after holding the position for 30 years. She made sure to thank everyone who helped to build the museum into a “world-class cultural institution.”
