The Bridgehampton home of Anne Hearst was the setting for the STAR (Standing for Truth About Radiation) Foundation gala, where the eloquent Christie Brinkley introduced supporter honorees and explained STAR’s mission to launch a nuclear security public awareness campaign created pro bono by BBDO CEO Phil Dusenberry and his team. Other honorees included Senator Hillary Clinton (“We have to unfortunately think like terrorists”), Applica CEO David Friedson, and Jay Gould, director of the Radiation & Public Health Project. Emcee Joy Behar brought comic relief with her anti-nuke jokes, and energy ran high at the high-watt gala attended by Kate and Andy Spade, Richard Kirshenbaum, Amanda Ross, Tom and Kathy Cullen, Jill Rappaport, and some of New York’s finest and bravest police and firemen—who nearly lost their lives on 9/11.
