Beyoncé’s maternal uncle Roland Beyince revealed at the premiere of her HBO doc “Life Is But a Dream” that the singer’s evocative name was inspired by his side of the family. “My sister Tina [Knowles] didn’t think we had enough boys in the family to keep the [Beyince] name going, so she gave Beyoncé our last name as the first name,” he said. (Or, at least she gave Beyoncé [above] a similar name.) Beyince revealed the news to Hampton Sheet publisher Joan Jedell at the Ziegfeld. The Beyince clan later headed to an after-party at Christie’s.
